Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming 120 of our publishers from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and France at an AdSense publisher event in our Google office in Zurich.

The agenda of the day included seminars and presentations about:
  • Trends in the online advertising market and how to use them for your site
  • Our best tips to optimize your AdSense earnings
  • Using DFP Small Business to get more out of AdSense
  • Website usability
  • The truth about common SEO myths

We also offered attendees 1-on-1 site consultations with a Google AdSense optimization specialist and ended the day by kicking back with pizza and beer to get to know one another a little better!

It was great to meet you in person to learn more about your businesses and experience with AdSense. We were thrilled to hear positive feedback from the attendees on the event and hope to offer a similar opportunity in a city near you soon!

How can I make the most out of my AdSense revenue potential? Which opportunities are coming from current trends on the online market? How can I improve the user experience on my website?

We’ll be addressing these questions and many more at our upcoming AdSense publisher event, taking place in the London area the first week of June. We’d love to see you there. Sign up through the form below until Friday, May 27th and we’ll follow up via email with additional details if there's still room. Scheduling will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, but we’ll do our best to include as many of you as space will allow.

During the event we’re offering many interesting workshops and presentations on website monetization. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet our optimization specialists for one-on-one optimization consultations.

We look forward to hearing from you!

If you follow our AdSense blog you may have heard about our AdSense in Your City events. We love the opportunity to meet publishers in person, hear first-hand feedback and gauge reactions to new AdSense features. At one of the most recent events in our Zurich office, we offered workshops on the Google AdSense program policies where we gained a deeper understanding of your concerns and questions around our policies and policy enforcement processes. To help spread the message to those unable to attend, we wanted to share a few things from the workshops on the Inside AdSense blog:
  • We enforce our program policies on a site and account level. It’s definitely worth reading this ‘AdSense Facts & Fiction: Program Policies’ post to learn more about our policy enforcement processes.
  • We have a lot of information in our help center regarding some of the notifications we send publishers. These help center entries also contain links to forms, which you can use to get in touch with us:
    • Received a notification asking you to make changes within three business days: Here is a detailed overview on what you need to do and know. Please keep in mind that you don’t need to let us know if you have simply fixed the violation.
    • Ad-serving has been disabled to your site: Read our Help Center article for more information on why this may have happened.
    • Received a notification stating your AdSense account may be disabled: By reading this information you may be able to get your AdSense account back in good standing.
    • Your AdSense account has been disabled: AdSense accounts can be disabled for different reasons. If you’d like to appeal the decision, be sure to use the right appeal form.
    • You’d like to report a policy violation: Our team is happy to investigate any policy violations submitted through these forms.
  • We send email notifications whenever we need to enforce our program policies, so make sure to check the email address associated with your AdSense account regularly. Alternatively, you can also view all policy notifications by visiting the Messages page, under the Home tab when you sign in to your AdSense account.
  • Some publishers have been contacted because AdSense ads had been placed next to comment spam entries on their blogs and forums. While we understand that no publisher intentionally allows their blogs and forums to be spammed, we ask that you ensure no ads are placed on these pages - as you can imagine advertisers don’t want their ads shown in this context. Check out the Webmaster Central blogpost and this help center article to learn how to combat comment spam effectively.
  • Make sure you use the right AdSense product! We have a range of AdSense products these days, from the traditional AdSense for content to AdSense for feeds. This might seem obvious, but in the past, for example, we’ve seen publishers use AdSense for content ad code within mobile applications. If you’d like to understand why this is important, please read this blog post. Here is a complete overview of all of our current AdSense products.
We’d like to thank all of your for your great feedback and questions, and look forward to meeting many more of you. Make sure that you’re opted in to ‘Special Offers’ in your email preferences under the ‘My Account’ tab within your AdSense account so we can let you know about future events in your area!

In 2010 we kicked off the AdSense in Your City program by visiting and optimizing more than 400 publishers in six different US cities. We loved getting to meet you face to face, and are very excited to announce that our next stop is Boulder, CO.

On July 26th and 27th, 2011, a few of our optimizers will be at our Boulder, CO office to provide optimization tips and solutions.

We’d love to meet you, so please fill out this form if you’ll be in the Boulder, CO area on July 26th or 27th and would like to schedule an appointment with our team. Once we get your RSVP, we'll follow up via email with additional details if there's still room. Scheduling will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, but we’ll do our best to include as many of you as space will allow.

During this summer, a few of us on the North America AdSense team had the pleasure of meeting publishers in person during AdSense in Your City events. First, we stopped by our office in Boulder, Colorado to provide publishers with AdSense updates and tips (and we fell in love with the city as well!). We then headed to our offices in Toronto and New York to host a series of similar events for local publishers. It was a busy week, but we thoroughly enjoyed the valuable face-to-face time with you.

While our goal during these events is to provide information to you, we also learn a lot from our attendees. We asked a few participants some questions about AdSense and the event, and here’s what they had to say:

What is your favorite thing about AdSense?

“Depth of advertisers. Allows me to do what I do best.” Darren O.

“AdSense was the easiest and most effective way to monetize my site.” Andrew D.

What did you learn from the AdSense in Your City event?

“I’m very interested in DoubleClick for Publishers Small Business. Right now I use a more limited ad server and I can likely increase CPM with better technology.” Darren O.

“It always amazes me how you can learn more about optimizing your revenue when attending Google sessions like this. It helped me focus on AdSense issues I have neglected over time. I will definitely implement and test some changes that were suggested. Also, I have met other publishers and learned from them.” Max L.

What tip do you have for other publishers?

“Jump in and try it [AdSense] - it’s super easy.” Darren O.

“Simple changes such as color and ad position have increased my CTR by over 30%.” Andrew D.

Thanks for providing candid feedback and we hope to continue hearing from you. We’ll be visiting other cities through our AdSense in Your City program, so make sure you’re opted in to our mailings so we can inform you about upcoming events!

The AdSense in Your City optimization team was back on the road again and recently hosted over 40 publishers in Walnut Creek, CA.  Publishers in attendance learned about top optimization tips, our DoubleClick for Publishers Small Business product and the Google +1 button. Each publisher also received a 1:1 optimization session with one of our specialists.

One publisher shared his thoughts on the experience he had:

“I traveled [for] hours to attend this event and found it well worth it. The presentation was great and the one on one session was invaluable. Also, networking with other content publishers at the event added even more value to the experience. A must attend for anyone looking to optimize their websites and increase AdSense revenue.”

If you’d like to attend an event, we’re heading to Kansas City, MO next week and there are still a few spots open. We’ll also be going to Chicago, IL and Las Vegas, NV in the coming weeks. If you’re interested in learning more about AdSense optimization and meeting our team, please fill out our interest form.

We asked publishers to share what AdSense has given them.

Thanks to all of our publishers who came to Walnut Creek. We had a great time working with you and hearing your AdSense stories.
